My son was born with a club foot. He had surgery when he was 1 month old and was always wearing a cast, changing it every 2 weeks and putting another one on for months. Then we did another bigger surgery at 9 months so that he could walk well like other kids. This was my only worry at the time, that he wouldn’t be able to run and play like other kids. The surgery went well and it looked like the doctor did a good job, but he didn’t, because his foot turned again through the years and went back to its original state, so he was walking on the side of his foot and always falling when running, unable to wear normal shoes.
Then I asked God where do I go now, because the best orthopaedic in the country didn’t do the job well, not only on my son but on many other kids who all faced the same problem; their foot would go back to the inside. So it made the first surgery pointless. I didn’t know where to go, but I only put his life in God’s hands because I had no solution.
One day we were at the supermarket, and a lady from France approached us and said to me, “I saw your son running and wearing medical shoes so I guess he has a club foot”. I found out that she had just come to Mauritius and she and her team are specialised in paediatric orthopaedics, and have treated a hundred cases with little kids and babies. But my son was 6 already, and at this age his bones were not soft and easily malleable. But I knew that God wouldn’t give hope without the intention of doing it right once and for all; God doesn’t go halfway ever. When we met the doctor from France, he said he would give it a try and had to break his bone and put the foot back in its right position.
It would cost us a lot of money to do the surgery that we didn’t have at that time. Because of Covid, my business wasn’t flourishing, but God sustained me. I saw a lot of businesses around me closing, but I was the only one who stood strong by a total miracle again.
Coming back to the surgery, we had no money, but the nice ladies found a way through a support system that sponsors children that are sick, etc., and they sponsored 3/4 of it. And the 1/4 of the money left that we needed, our families and friends blessed us through a fundraising and we got more than required for his surgery and were able to help another kid with the same situation too. They were surgery buddies. And these ladies at the supermarket knew Jesus too, they were angels that God sent to help us totally from A to Z: the money, the support, the love for kids and the kindness.
And today my son runs and wears normal shoes and his foot is totally normal. When God does something, he doesn’t do it halfway and he gives the best doctors, treatments, clinics and support system. He always comes through, just believe and you’ll see.
